Sans Soucie is an upcycling textile and design innovation studio that produces unique limited edition upcycled textiles, apparel, accessories and soft furnishings out of pre-consumer hosiery and UK sock manufacturing waste. Our unique design circular textile waste design approach focuses on creative textile experimentation, zero waste methods and is motivated by a responsibility and commitment to create solutions for textile waste. We combine craft applications with obsolete sewing and textile machinery and digital tools to formulate creative reuse strategies and methods for textile waste.
Katherine Soucie is a British + Canadian multi-disciplinary designer. Her waste textiles research is driven by a long-term engagement with upcycling with a focus on creative remanufacturing and reuse design methods. She established her award winning experimental zero waste design studio and label Sans Soucie in 2002 after developing an upcycling material concept that would lead her to generate a signature line of upcycled textiles, clothing and accessories out of pre-consumer waste hosiery acquired from manufacturers in Canada.
From 2002-2019, her studio was based in Vancouver before relocating to London in 2019. Her work has been showcased at various fashion weeks, sold and exhibited internationally, and commissioned for private clients, film/tv/theatre/performance.
Her studio is currently based in East London where she is developing upcycled materials and uses for UK sock manufacturing waste.
