Brenda Resendiz Diaz is a PhD researcher at Queen Mary University of London’s School of Engineering and Materials Science. As part of Crick’s research group, she develops superhydrophobic materials with a focus on food-grade water-repellent coatings for sustainable food packaging. Her work also explores the use of sulfur polymers in textiles to improve their water resistance properties. With experience in both academia and industry, Brenda brings expertise in materials innovation, sustainability, and practical implementation of circular solutions.

Dr Colin Crick is a research group leader in the development of Novel Functional Materials, focusing on the engineering of surface chemistry and morphology for targeted applications. This includes; water repellent materials, water purification, anti-biofouling and self-cleaning surfaces. Expertise encompasses a wide range of materials and coatings synthesis methodologies, advanced characterisation techniques, and performance benchmarking. Dr Crick works closely with a range of commercial and academic partners to target real-world impact.

Dr Sadler is an expert in the fabrication of water repellent material with multiple functionalities through modification of surface morphology and chemistry. These functionalities include self-cleaning, anti-fouling, anti-bacterial, water purification and drag-reduction. Her current work focuses on the commercialization of superhydrophobic coatings with particular interests in sustainable alternatives to PFAs containing coatings, as well as plant-based coatings for eco-friendly packaging. Her expertise lies in designing materials with tailored functionalities, resilience and sustainability
profiles.
